‘WOMAN IN RED’ PEPPER SPRAYED BY POLICE BECOMES SYMBOL OF ISTANBUL’S OCCUPY GEZI UNREST

Freedom, Freedom, Freedom, so precious, so fragile these days it seems.  I remember seeing these types of scenes during the “Occupy” protests in New York two years ago, it is amazing how this photographer was “right there” to capture this madness.  A woman in a red summer dress with a shopping bag and her purse being Pepper Sprayed by the police person wearing a gas mask?

WOMAN IN RED PEPPER SPRAYED

No wonder this photo has gone “viral”, my eyes are burning just looking at it.  Hard to understand the mentality of the offending police person.

How much of a threat would this “Woman in Red” be strolling down the street after her shopping was done.

“Endlessly shared on social media the image of the woman in red has become the leitmotif for female protesters”

With all of the crazy news that’s been going on lately, this article is truly “shocking” for anyone who enjoys and loves FREEDOM.  The photo speaks for itself.  Can you imagine seeing this “live”.  The poor woman walking down the street with her shopping bag over her shoulder, walking right into the security gauntlet expecting to continue on to where ever she was going. And then getting “pepper sprayed” like this.

Here are some quotes from this article;

“That photo encapsulates the essence of this protest,” says math student Esra at Besiktas, near the Bosphorus strait and one of the centres of this week’s protests. “The violence of the police against peaceful protesters, people just trying to protect themselves and what they value.”

SURROUNDED by oppression is every direction.
